Shore Regional students volunteer at Wolf Hill Elementary School

Members of Shore Regional High School’s Interact Club and National Honor Society have been given the opportunity to tutor students at Wolf Hill Elementary School throughout the remainder of the school year. As a part of the School Age Child Care (SACC) program at the elementary school, children complete homework assignments with the assistance of the high school students. Up to six high school students can volunteer at the school from Monday to Thursday at 3:15 p.m to 4:00 p.m to ensure students are academically successful.

The students of SACC are cooperative and interested in learning from the high school students. Those who attend the SACC program respectfully ask questions regarding the elementary students’ homework. By volunteering their time, students from the Interact Club and National Honor Society gain an understanding for the new style of learning being presented to elementary school students, and serve their community in a positive way. Sophomore, Courtney Moloney, has assisted the elementary school students and says that, “The experiences I’ve gained from my time at Wolf Hill are ones that show me how important it is to serve the community that has shaped who you are.”

Staff and students constantly express their gratitude for the helpfulness of members of the Interact Club and National Honor Society. High school students prove that through volunteering their time, not only do they gain a valuable experience, but also get to contribute to their community.
