On Tuesday, January 5 President Obama announced a sequence of actions during a White House event that are a result of the recent gun violence in the US.  According to USA Today, “The executive actions — first previewed by the White House on Monday would attempt to clamp down on unlicensed gun sellers who exploit an exception for hobbyists and collectors in order to avoid having to run criminal background checks on gun purchasers.” Any solution however, will require Congress’s approval. Obama stated that instead of taking action to solve the problem, the topic has been heavily debated. Obama also says that he agrees that Americans should have the right to bear arms but believes in measures that could keep guns out of the hands of people who may use them unethically.
