Spring Sports Preview: Boys’ Lacrosse

Thomas Moloney, Staff Writer

As spring starts up, lacrosse season does as well. Many members of the team are excited and want to have a great season.

This season, the boys’ lacrosse team will hope to do better than they did last season. Last year, the lacrosse team won 6 games and lost 12 games. The season saw a disappointing ending, with a 15-2 loss to Madison in the Group 1 State Tournament.

This season, the team is lead by Doug Goldsmith, who will be playing lacrosse in Albany next year. Besides Goldsmith, the team has many other players, with a variety of upperclassmen. There are also underclassmen on this talented roster, as the roster is somewhat mixed among each of the age levels. The first game of the season is a face off between Shore Regional and Toms River North, in Toms River on March 30th. The schedule can be found in the “Athletics” section on the school website.

Even though the season was rough last year, there is hope for this team. Many sports are unpredictable, especially spring sports like lacrosse. This season has great potential to be successful and one of our school’s best.
