Cross Country Fall Classic Champions

Shore Regional brings home 26 medals

Over this past weekend, Old Bridge and Metuchen sponsored a Cross Country invitational known as the “Fall Classic”. The Shore Regional Cross Country team, led by Coach Mel Ullmeyer, attended this meet with high hopes of winning, racing in both the Varsity and JV races. The first race of the day was the Boys’ JV race. Athletes from Shore included Rory Maher, Michael Murphy, Josh Beer, Dillion Karlson, and Anderson Guadagno. The boys’ JV team placed 4th with a total of 90 points. The next race of the day was the Girls’ JV race including athletes, Holly George and Ciara Quill.

With the JV races complete, the third race of the day was the Girls’ Varsity race. The team placed 3rd  with Krissy Birdsall and Alyssa Costello placing 5th and 6th overall. The final race of the day was the Boys’ Varsity team. Athletes included Cameron Janovic, Robert Weeden, Stephen Quattrochi, Nolan Loehr, Ryan Costello, Stephen Myer, and Christian Bauman. The boys team won the Varsity race with a total of 31 points. Janovic, leading the race from the start, finished in 1st place followed by Weeden in 4th, Quattrochi in 6th, Loehr in 11th and Costello in 12th. In all, the Boys and Girls Varsity teams went home with 26 medals and one Championship plaque.
