On December 2nd, Rockefeller Center in New York City was shining bright with Christmas spirit. The historic event’s 83rd annual tree lighting was kicked off by a number of artists spreading the Christmas spirit.

A variety of artists graced the stage such as the following: Sting, James Taylor, Carly Rae Jepsen, Mary J. Blige, The Band Perry, Andy Grammar, Pentatonix, and Michael Buble. All of the artists performed covers of spirit filled Christmas songs for nearly two hours. After all of the performances, the artists collectively counted down the seconds until the massive tree lit up New York with its thousands of twinkling lights.

The tree, which was cut down in Mifflinville, Pennsylvania was brought to New York City for the lighting. The massive tree is an 83 year old Norway Spruce that spans 70 feet and weighs just around 10 tons.

The tree lighting this year was a spectacular show, watched by millions of people across the country and its several thousand spectators who lined the streets in front of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The tree will be on display through the holidays and will be shining until January 7, 2016. The spirited tree is a magnificent sight and is a ‘must see’ for anyone wanting to get into the holiday spirit!
