New Year for West Long Branch

Gabrielle Maletto, Staff Writer

West Long Branch held it’s New Year’s Day swearing reorganization ceremony at City Hall on Friday, January 1st. The meeting was opened with a pledge of allegiance, a prayer and then things were set forward. Susan Juliano and John Penta were sworn in as the newest members of City Council. Mrs. Juliano is a lifelong resident of West Long Branch and also a substitute teacher at Shore Regional High School.  Mayor Janet Tucci states that the newly sworn in candidates show a love and dedication for their town. There was also swearing in of new members of the WLB First Aid and Fire Department such as Fire Chief Pat Joyce Asst. and Fire Chief Steven Nolan. Some of the upcoming projects that were discussed that will soon take place in town are road paving, equal tax assessment, and the decision as to whether or not the police will be part of the dispatch of the county system. It seems like 2016 will be a promising year for WLB as a town and for the newly elected officials. Best of luck to the newly elected council members!
