Shore Players Presents The Music Man
March 4, 2016
This March, Shore Regional’s drama club, Shore Players, is showcasing the renowned musical, The Music Man. As opening night draws closer and closer with every rehearsal, the cast and crew are working hard to make it the best musical yet; their efforts are paying off!
The Music Man follows the story of the con man Harold Hill, played by senior Luke Sweeney, who makes a living selling bands to gullible people; instruments, uniforms, instruction books, and anything else he can. However, when he visits the small, isolated Iowa town of River City, he finds that those in the rural midwest are a bit less likely to fall for his schemes. Throughout the show, Harold is assisted by his old friend Marcellus Washburn, played by senior Zach Arlt, in his plan. He is nearly thwarted by a rival, Charlie Cowell, played by freshman Max Cameron, and even finds love with a stubborn librarian and music teacher, played by senior Christine Mitchell.
As the cast continues to work hard each day, more and more tickets sell, and pre-show anticipation is lurking around every corner. Opening night is Friday, March 11th at 8:00pm, with shows to follow on the 12th at 8:00pm, 13th at 2:00pm, 18th at 8:00pm, 19th at 8:00pm, and 20th 2:00pm. Cast and crew are working tirelessly to make this the best production Shore Regional has ever seen. As Shore Players director, Todd Aikens, says, “We move forward every single day.” Through 6 full-cast numbers, comedy, romance, and a whole lot of drama, The Music Man is sure to be a hit.
So, come and give Iowa a try!
