Spring music is in the air

Spring events are underway here at Shore Regional and the music department is gearing up for their Spring Concert and Music Festival! We asked music teacher Mr. Attilio some questions about the spring show this year and we found out that the theme of this year’s show is “Night at the Movies” and will feature all types of music, ranging from movie theme songs to songs that were performed in popular cinema, even songs about different movies! It is definitely a great theme and promotes something that we all love, a good show! Mr. Attilio said that what he likes most about doing the concerts at Shore is that, “it’s a great opportunity to show the student body what our music department has to offer here and to have the community come in and see what we’ve been working on.” We also interviewed sophomore Artur Workstus, who sings in the school’s chorus, about some of the different songs they will be performing and we were excited to found out that they will be singing “The Circle of Life” from the popular Disney movie “The Lion King,” “May it Be” from the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, “The James Bond Theme Song,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen! These are some selections from classic blockbusters and are sure to bring back nostalgic memories from when you first saw it in the theaters.  The spring concert will take place on May 17th at 6: .

Another musical event that will be taking place this month is the music festival! We found that it’s mainly for high school and middle school groups that come to Shore to perform, and are critiqued for their overall performance. It’s a great opportunity for the kids to showcase their talents, or even get some practice! Mr. Attilio said that his band will not be playing as stated as it is mainly for visiting students. “It’s a show that showcases other kid’s talents in music, some of them may choose to do it as a competition and others do it for the great experience that it provides!” Either way, come out and support a friend who may be doing the show on May 13th at 6:30pm. The Music Department at Shore is budding with fresh new shows and music this month, and Mr. Attilio is very excited for these upcoming functions!
