Meet our September Student of the Month: Dean Smolokoff
October 24, 2016
Name: Dean Smolokoff
Grade: 12
Role Model: My role model is my mother. She continuously motivates me to do better than I did the previous day. She has been there with me through my ups and downs and always gives me the support I need to grow as a human being. She’s worked and continues to work very hard to make sure that my siblings and I mature to be respectful, humble, honest and hard working people.
Teacher with the most impact: Mr. Nicol, who I had for Geometry, Trig/Pre-calc and Physics is the teacher who has had the most impact on me. He did what I thought was impossible and made math class a fun time. The way he could make the entire class laugh, and then continue to teach a productive lesson makes him admirable to me. At the same time, he also made me a better student by providing me with challenging assessments and giving me lessons that helped boost my confidence in math.
Activities: I have been a part of the wrestling team and baseball team since my freshman year.
Future Goals/Plans: My future goals are to graduate college, obtain a steady career and travel the world with my family.
Personal Quote: “Find a way.” – Mr. Porta (wrestling coach)
