Boys Soccer and Field Hockey RoundUp

As the colder weather approaches, our Shore soccer and field hockey teams are braving the afternoon frost and hitting the fields hard. Practices are held everyday after school and on weekends, in preparation for the important state tournament games.

Varsity girls field hockey lost in the championship round of the Shore Conference tournament 1-0. However, they pushed past this tough loss and won their first States game against Lyndon B. Arthur in double overtime. Their next game will be on Thursday against Madison.

Boys soccer played their first State Tournament game on Halloween, beating Riverside with a whopping score of 8-2. The lead scorers were Steven Johnson, Mike Barreca, and Leonardo and Dante Montesinos.

Girls soccer lost in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament to Point Boro, but won their first States game 5-0 against Middlesex. Captain Devon McDonough stated before the game, “Leave everything on the field.” The whole team was determined to come out with a win, and sure enough, they did. Scorers included Frankie McDonough, Julia Eichenbaum, Hannah Birdsall, and Sophia Hauritz. Varsity girls soccer have made it to the state championships for the past four years, winning twice.

With all of these important games coming up, all teams could use as much support from their loyal fans as possible!
