Every fourth Thursday in April marks National “Bring your Child to Work Day.” It is a day where many parents will bring their children to their work so they can see what they do every day. For many young children, this day is very exciting, they get to experience what life after high school and college will be like one day for them. This past Thursday, the halls of Shore Regional were filled with the children of many teachers who got to see what their mom or dad do each and every day.

Math teacher and IB coordinator, Mrs. Miano brought her daughter, Melodie, to work with her. Mrs. Miano expressed to the Beacon how incredibly excited her daughter was to come to Shore Regional and help her mom teach. “She was planning out her outfit the night before”, Mrs. Miano said, also adding that Melodie waits for this day every year. Mrs. Miano also told the Beacon how she enjoys having her child in class with her so that she can actually get to see what she does daily.

Melodie revealed that she could barely sleep the night before, she was so excited. Melodie helped her mom grade papers and teach throughout the day. She told the Beacon that her favorite subject is math because that’s what her mom teaches. She also explained to us as much as she loves to help her mom teach, she really wants to become a singer when she grows up.

“Once this day ends, she waits a whole 365 days till the next ‘bring your child to work day.” Bring your child to work day can be a great experience for children all around the country. It can help children better understand what their parents do and one day they may just want to follow in their footsteps.
