Cure for the common cold

Brenna O'Brien, Staff Writer

Scientists in the UK are developing a cure for the common cold. The cure is said to target the human host rather than the virus itself. It will block a key protein in the body’s cells that cold viruses typically take over and self-replicate. The plan is to inject patients with early stage of  symptoms of the cold. This could be beneficial for people who suffer from asthma. People who have asthma can get quite sick when they get a cold. Colds are extremely contagious. Painkillers and cold medicine might help slow down the cold, but this new cure aims to stop the virus completely.
