A popular breakfast spot that is a part of over 79% of Americans’ lives is making a major change. Dunkin’ Donuts, the popular food chain and favorite among Shore students, announced Tuesday that they are dropping the “Donuts”- only from their name, though!

The newly renamed Dunkin’s chief marketing officer, Tony Weisman, reassured the public that they would still be serving best-selling treats, such as donuts and munchkins. The former Dunkin’ Donuts sells 2.9 billion donuts a year along with their signature Munchkins. Weisman was also quoted as saying,  “By simplifying and modernizing our name, while still paying homage to our heritage, we have an opportunity to create an incredible new energy for Dunkin’, both in and outside our stores”.

The name change was first tested about a year ago in one location in Pasadena, California. As for the rest of the former DD stores, the complete change over will be forthcoming.
