As a society, we need to make the world a better place. By helping fellow citizens, especially through their hard times is a mitzvah. Improving the world is a blessing to those in need; it is equally a blessing to those who participate in “making the repairs.” A shining example is the food pantry run by the Lutheran Church on the corner of Locust and Broadway in West Long Branch. There are many dedicated people involved who keep the food pantry running as well as it does. Pastor Matt, Debbie, Erwin, and the other volunteers who are always there truly impact the lives of many in need. Local supermarkets, restaurants, schools, and businesses who donate also show the compassion, concern, and hope for humanity!

Recently, the church was able to complete a new addition to the food pantry that greatly increased the available space to house the donations, as well as, increase the number of people who can benefit from these services. The original food pantry will be the new location for the clothing donations. All of these services add to the betterment of the community.

If you want to do something that is truly amazing and give back to our community, consider volunteering at the food pantry. You can contact Debbie Keszler, [email protected], at the church for more information. The food pantry is available to its patrons on Tuesday evenings between 7:00-8:30 p.m. and on Saturday mornings between 8:30-10:00 a.m. Help those around you to repair the world! Find or create opportunities where you can be of service to your community.
