This winter, a group of theater lovers had the pleasure of attending a student production of All Shook Up at Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, and it was nothing short of electric. From the moment the curtain rose, the cast filled the stage with infectious energy, vibrant performances, and a clear love for the show. The music was lively, the choreography was sharp, and the performers brought a fresh enthusiasm that kept the audience smiling, clapping, and fully engaged throughout the entire production.
What made this performance especially enjoyable was how confident and committed the students were. Each scene flowed seamlessly into the next, and the comedic moments landed perfectly, earning genuine laughter from the crowd. It was obvious that a great deal of hard work and passion went into the production, and that effort paid off in a show that felt fun, dynamic, and full of heart. The IB Theater Class with Mrs. Ross, Voices literary magazine club with Mrs. Koontz, and student reporters from The Beacon newspaper with Mrs. Patberg had a great time.
The experience didn’t end when the final curtain fell. Our trip to see All Shook Up was just as memorable as the performance itself, filled with laughter and excitement on the ride home. In fact, it ended on a particularly unforgettable note, yours truly managing to fall down the bus stairs and faceplant in front of everyone. While my dignity may not have survived the trip, the memories certainly did, making the entire experience one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
