FRANKLIN LAKE, W.L.B.- The W.L.B. Recreation Commission held its Fall Festival on Sunday, October 25, at the West Long Branch Franklin Lake. The festivities began at one o’clock and the turnout was successful by the whole community. The activities include hayrides, face painting, a candy corn counting contest, inflatable rides,  and a “Touch-a-Truck” attraction. At the festival there was also a food truck selling Italian cuisine and other festive foods such as doughnuts, popcorn and cotton candy.

Shore Regional had a presence at the festival, as the Surfrider Club brought their “bag monster” to bring awareness to the environmental impact of single-use plastics, such as plastic bags.  The Students for Animal Welfare club from Shore Regional also held its own portion of the festival entitled “Barktoberfest”. Volunteers from the SAW club aided in working the different activities and also held a bake sale to raise money for the nonprofit organization Puppies Behind Bars as well as their own club. At the dog adoption, various Huskies and other mixed Husky breeds were brought by the Husky House organization in hopes a family decide to adopt one of the dogs. In addition to the activities run by SAW, there was a raffle which included various gift baskets to raise money for the club. Gift baskets included a board game themed basket, a Trader Joe’s and Rook Coffee basket.
