#NationalFrenchWeek2015
November 24, 2015
In the wake of the horrific attacks on Paris, France last Friday, Shore Regional celebrated National French Week in solidarity with France and in the loving memory of those who lost their lives.
In an effort to remind our community of the beauty that is French culture, Shore Regional’s French program participated in a variety of activities to commemorate the week. Students initially traveled to Summit High School and attended a concert of the Francophone Cajun Band Le Feu Follet. Students also enjoyed lively music and dancing while learning the history of Cajun and Creole music.
French 4 students, in the dual enrollment course with Monmouth University, attended and participated in Monmouth University’s Festival of Languages and Cultures. The hallways of Shore were adorned with posters featuring Francophone destinations as well as labels in the French language indicating the names of classrooms and other spaces throughout the school. Additionally, the French Club made and sold delicious French crêpes after school. Many students were even caught on film by the Crêpe Cam!
A week long of informative French announcements culminated in a Francophone trivia contest. The winners of the contest were: Jeannine DeMarzo, Lauren Spellman, and Nicole Cebulko. Felicitations! Each winner will be presented with a French tee-shirt and a $5 giftcard to the crêperie, Whipped, in Red Bank. Bon Boulot!
