Local Elections in Shore Sending Districts

On November 3rd, a number of local elections were held in the communities that make up the sending districts to Shore Regional High School:  West Long Branch, Oceanport, Monmouth Beach, and Sea Bright. The Shore Regional High School Board of Education had one member spot available, which voters decided should be filled by Richard G. McKenna. West Long Branch residents voted on two borough council positions, filled by Republicans, Susan Juliano and John M. Penta Jr.

In Oceanport, residents voted on mayor and 3 borough council members. Write-in candidate John J. Coffey won, defeating incumbent mayor, Mahon. Two full terms for borough council will be filled by John A. Patti and Patricia Cooper, while the last partially unexpired term will be filled by Stuart Briskey.

Monmouth Beach voter did not have any borough positions open but rather, voted in Board of Education members, Kirk Ruoff, David Baker, Kathleen M. Denker. Sea Bright voters elected a mayor and two borough council members, choosing Dina Long, who ran as an independent, for mayor, while Marc A. Leckstein and William J. Keeler were elected for borough council.
