The Flint water crisis has sparked the attention of many people nationwide. In Flint, Michigan, people are trying to deal with this crisis in their city and are reacting in an outraged manner. The citizens of Flint have the right to be outraged and should continue to be until the matter is dealt with in a respected manner. Their water is contaminated by lead and drinking and bathing water is unsafe. But, this isn’t the only issue that Flint is having. The larger issue is that there is nothing being done to fix this situation! The government openly has addressed the issue but will not come about a plan of action. Flint will unfortunately have to continue to deal with the harsh and unsanitary conditions.

One aspect I do not agree with is the reasoning behind why the government isn’t doing anything about it. I don’t believe that this issue has to do with racism. I feel that it is just a coincidence that the neighborhood this is taking place in is a poor African American community. This is a hard matter to fix and will take a lot of time to try and come up with a plan to fix it. If this was, for example, an upscale, predominantly white community, it wouldn’t make it any easier for the government to find a solution for the crisis. Even with this being said, initiative should be taking place very soon in order to save the city of Flint from these unsanitary conditions. One step that the government can take is to continue to provide money or resources to the citizens of Flint, so they have access to bottles of pure and clean water. That is one action that can be taken immediately to help the controversy.
