For the past couple of weeks, Shore Regional’s Interact Club, in conjunction with IB Theory of Knowledge students, have been collecting items for “Broadcast to Benefit the People of New Jersey”. Partnering with the WRAT 95.9 radio station, Shore Regional is collecting items for those in need across New Jersey. This organization is composed of three different charities: Fulfill Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Family Resource Associates, and Holiday Express. These charities are currently accepting non-perishable food items, used clothing, and “stocking stuffers”, as well as toys for fellow New Jerseyans. Collectively they have distributed nearly 15,000 pounds of food to local food banks which is roughly 12,000 meals for the people of New Jersey

As the holidays are rapidly approaching, not everyone in the state is fortunate enough to have a fun cozy holiday season filled with gifts. However, with the help from Shore Regional, the WRAT and other similar charities, countless provisions have been distributed.

Interact Club is also involved with SADD, Students Against Destructive Decisions, in collecting toys that will also benefit more local charities who will then distribute them to children in need during the holiday season. SADD and Interact contributes to the Division of Children Protection and Permanency, formerly DYFS, the Division of Youth and Family Services. This drive goes until December 10th. Anyone interested in donating items or time should direct their questions and interest to Interact adviser, Mrs. Encarnacion.
